The relation between metal and games is an everlasting one. For some reason most musically enlightened people (being those people who love rock and metal) are also consistent gamers. Coincidence, maybe… But I think a huge part of it is the overwhelming number of badass game characters which support the culture and mentality of metal heads all over the world.
So which of these characters are the baddest of the bad, which of these characters can you imagine cranking up a heavy-as-hell tune and moshing the hell out of a crowd?
Well, being a game fanatic myself, and a game designer by profession, I have figured it out. So here we go with the top 10 BIGGEST, BADDEST, AND MOST HARDCORE METAL game characters EVER!
10. Noob Saibot – Mortal Kombat Series
The dude is dressed in black from head to toe and is the freakin ghost of the original Sub-Zero, not to mention that he has a wicked laugh and can beat you up with his shadow. In the newest Mortal Kombat (aka MK9), him and his shadow rip you into two halves as a finisher.
Reminds me of when Ozzy bit the head off a bat.
9. Lars Umlaut – Guitar Hero Series
This dude does not only look extremely metal-like but he also has one of the most metal names ever.
His last name defined: diacritic in names of heavy metal or hard rock bands for effect.
You know those dots over the letters in rock bands names like Blue Oyster Cult and Motorhead. Need I say more?!
8. Akuma/Gouki – Street Fighter Series
Ah yes, the demonic baby brother of Gouken. Hair on fire and eyes that turn as red as blood. He has been a secret character and final boss in a bunch of games and was even modified by the mutant Apocalypse at one point to be even more bad ass.
In SSFIV he yells out “Die 1’000 deaths” before he whips your ass with his ultra combo.Very metal of him.
7. Sephiroth – Final Fantasy VII
Nobody but nobody messes with Sephiroth, he can burn down your village with a smirk on his face, drop from 200 feet with a look of calmness while baring an insanely long ass Kitana, his hair is just evil looking, and killer music when he pops onto the scene.
And he doesn’t only rock in FFVII he also kicks ass in the 2005 animated movie titled Final fantasy VII: Advent Children.
6. Daniel Garner – Painkiller
From my point of view Painkiller is one of the most metal games out there. You freakin go into the depths of hell to fight off demons, zombies, vampires, ghosts, freaks of nature, and Satan himself with some of the most insane weapons ever created in a shoot ‘em up game, you can even pin zombies to a wall with a stake. So being the main character of this very head banging game makes Daniel Garner a definite pick for this list.
5. Kain – Legacy of Kain Series
The vampire of all vampires, the most epic vampire ever, just being a vampire gives him crazy metal points for this list. I know i said vampire three times but seriously this dude killed his own son and right hand man for spawning wings before he did. He is unbelievably sinister and has no problem killing and draining dry every single being in his way to get what he wants, plus he looks fucking bad ass!!!
4. Illidan Stormrage – Warcraft III/Wow
Where to begin?
He has evil demon wings, huge horns on his head, demon blood flowing through his night elf blood, insane tattoos, he is blind but can see, and he has been known to transform into a blood raged black demon.
“You dare enter my realm?!…..You are not prepared!”
3. Duke Nukem – Duke Nukem Series
Got any gum? Cause he is all out and about to kick some alien ass or as he puts it…”Dick ya in the butt”. I could quote Duke for about 10 days straight and enjoy every minute of it…
Let’s look at a few shall we…
“My boot, your face; the perfect couple.”
“Your face, your ass – what’s the difference?”
“I’ve got balls of steel.”
“Hail to the King, baby!”
Not to mention the other numerous song and movie quotes throughout the game and the R rated content. Metal? I say yes.
2. Dante – Dante’s Inferno
The crusader that killed death…then stitched a cross onto his torso…and ventured into hell to cause a little more chaos…and why not?!…
He looks devilishly bad ass and wields some pretty bad ass weapons for a religious dude on a mission.
is he the Metalhead of his time?…YES.
1. Kratos – God of War Series
“The hands of Death could not defeat me. The sisters of fate could not hold me. And you will not see the end of this day. I will have my revenge!”
The most bad ass game character ever! Kratos has the baddest attitude out of any character I have ever seen in a game. Killing and defying the gods of Greek myth left and right, becoming the God of War, getting stabbed by the sword of Olympus and surviving, and getting it on with the two chicks on the ship in the first God of War. If Kratos were around in real life today, he would definitely have some death metal tunes blasting while he cuts himself up some gods.

Freddie Mercury is and will forever be one of the all time greats to ever grace a stage in all of music. Ranging over four octaves of vocal attacks, Mercury captivated millions of rock and music fans. Not only could this guy sing but he could compose the hell out of any song. Best known as being the lead man of the legendary band Queen , Freddie composed some of the greatest rock hits ever such as “Killer Queen”, “We Are The Champions”, “Somebody To Love”, and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
Born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5th, 1946 in Zanzibar, Mercury spent most of his early days between there and India where he spent his time learning to play piano and guitar in order to jam his favorite tunes by Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix. In 1958 this legend started his first band while attending a British school in Mumbai, India called the Hectics at the age of 12. While attending the St.Peter’s school young Farroukh changed his name to Freddie and never looked back. At 17 Freddie and his family fled Zanzibar during the Zanzibar revolution to the UK where he would pursue a diploma in Art & Graphic Design giving him the skills that he would later on use to design the Queen crest.
In the spring of 1970, Freddie would meet up with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor formerly of a band called Smile, which apparently didn’t fall easy on his ears so he changed it to Queen and decided to make another name change, from Bulsara to Mercury.
From that point on there was no stopping the lead singer, hit after hit Queen rose to the top of the rock pyramid it was impossible to deny him the credit for composing, writing, and singing his ass off every time he entered the studio or hit the stage. Watching Queens epic 1985 performance at Live Aid, I was blown away. They were not allowed to sound check and it was forbidden to use playback from a tape in the background which pretty much would put an end to “Bohemian Rhapsody” after the first verse and they only had 20 minutes to blow away a crowd of 72,000. But, Freddie and Queen managed to pull it off and actually “stole the show” in the words of Sir Elton John. That performance has since been declared the greatest performance in the history of rock.
Freddie went on to find success in a solo career in addition to his work with Queen, writing great hits such as “Barcelona”, “I Was Born to Love You”, and “Living on My Own”. Many of his solo hits and his 1985 album “Mr. Bad Guy” would go on to debut on top ten lists especially on the UK charts.
Sadly, in 1987 this vocal genius and innovator of rock was diagnosed with HIV, he would continue his work with Queen despite his illness which he denied to the public until June of 1991, where he then retired to his home in Kensington. Mercury remained absent from the public eye and only admitted to have had the disease via a public statement on the 23rd of November less than 24 hours before his death. Freddie Mercury passed away in his home on the 24th of November 1991.
He is remembered as a phenomenal vocalist, flamboyant and entertaining performer, and one of the all-time rock greats. To this day remixes of his songs are debuted at the top of the charts and his voice has not been matched.
On a personal note, I am a huge Queen fan and I’m pretty sure Freddie Mercury’s talent has and will continue to withstand the test of time.

This motherfucker is going off on Hanneman as if he is begging for a big can of Slayer fan whoop ass to be opened up on him. Once again it’s that lovely time of the week where Metal-Rocks.com feature our Hottie of the Week.
This week it’s the lovely Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless. Many Have said that this bombshell is fake and just riding the fame of her beauty. I kind of disagree with calling it fake but it is very soft, though that is a conversation for another article.
One thing we can all agree on is that she is drop dead gorgeous.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Lambesis asked an undercover detective last Tuesday to murder his estranged wife. Following an investigation, Lambesis was arrested this afternoon at an unspecified Oceanside, CA business.
Authorities were apparently aware that Lambesis had soliticed someone to kill his wife, prompting the investigation.
Lambesis has been charged with solicitation of another to commit murder and has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
On a personal note…I can barely believe this shit…and what a fuckin bullshit week for Metal…
